NOTES TO THE SOMALI YOUTH IN EGYPT

SYO

coordinating many activities

in 2008 some of them will happen in Cairo- Egypt while others in deferent countries in the world.

The aim of the SYO is to engage Somali youth to make change to the current situation in our country using their elements of powers representing those have good mind to advantage the time they have and their effecting to the community.

In the history always those make development and changing had circumstances in their countries are educated and active youth because there is provable which says "nation with out youth like person with out eyes.

However if we are Somali youth we have to run while others walk because we destroyed our countries while other youth developing their nations .

During august there will be training about "haw to be qualified lecture" to the high educating researchers implementing by American university in Cairo co-coordinating with SYO. This important training will took place on conferences center of Au.

SYO
the somali youth organization SOY is a non-governmental organization founded by a group of Somali youth in the millennium year 2000 in order to serve Somali social protection and engage in development and reforming activities for the Somali community.Due to the collapse of the central government of Somalia, Somalia has been exposed to lack of protection and lack of development during three decades of inefficiency.
In the past 15 years, Somalia has been engulfed by civil confrontation, which devastated the whole country's infrastructure and institutions. As a result, many services remain paralyzed including hopes for peace, social services, democracy, Human rights, education and other social development factors. In view of all this, SOY was initiated to respond to the general social setback of the Somali people.

INTRODUCTION:

We are national youth Organization which consists of many Somali youth in different countries as network representing different NGOe's non governmental, non political and non- profitable.

MAIN FIELDS:

Democracy and civil society ,support Reforming and development programs Peace building process through the participatoryApproaching ,Youth militia demobilization, disarmaments andIntegrating, Protecting and advocating civilian social rights Specially equality of women ,Investigation and documentation of Human rightsViolation Education skills development Income generations programs.

TAGET PEAPLE

Youth, vulnerable community groups, misleading militia groups, illiterate people, women, and authorities.

BACKGROUND

The Somali youth organization for development and reforming,(SYO) non governmental was funded by a group of Somali youth in the millennium year 2000 under pretext to serve Somali social protection and engage in development and reforming activities addressed for the Somali community.

The SYO has a large operational coverage area in clouding all Somali regions and it has both long and short term plans to render its activities for short timeDue to the collapse of the central government of Somalia, Somalia exposed to luck of protection and lack of development as experiencing three decades of inefficiency.
In past 15 years, Somalia was engulfed by civil confrontation, which devastated whole country's in frastructure institutions similarly, many other services remained paralyzed as social direction to Peace, social service directions, democracy Human rights sense education and other social development factors.

In accordance with all those, and hence SYO was initiated to respond the general social setback or debacle of Somali people.

VISION

The vision of SYO is to looping youth leadershiping and their development encouraging them to play their role to wards haw to save comunity and countery also to fully abolish all types of abuses and enable the Somali population to enjoy their rights especially with the administration of justice, also in order to ensure equal rights for all on earth and life together in world harmoniously with peace, stability. Understanding democracy, solidarity and tolerance the SYO would promote and encourage for all of those.

MISSION

The SYO would undertake activities and programs to develop and reform the community in concern over Human rights for development programs like education, health, and other significant public services responding to strategic plan of the organization,Targeting communities of varying level and especially to the grassroots who are in dire needs for assistance.This mission should be realized trough the realization of the fallowing goals.
To establish peace and Human rights training to all Somali people in order to create sense of Human rights and peace importance.
militia youth demobilization and rehabilitation through the vocational training that will help to bring long lasting permanent peace in Somali the area of SYO operation. Conducting awareness razing meetings about killing threatens with the community parties, importance of peace, life together, solidarity and tolerance.
District level workshops for district outhrities, community leaders about the importance of peace, civil leadership and good governance.
Promotion and developing educational system by extending literacy education and formal education· Advocacy for the Application of the international Human rights standards with particular regard to the administration of justice in Somalia

ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE SYO

It's worth to mention here that SYO its area of activities is well identified. SYO is also characterized by committed membership and working board of directors who have good experience in the field of human rights
Since its inauguration SYO was involved in strengthening its internal capacity in order to be able to effectively implement its program of activities that is being launched soon, this program is well identified and SYO has initiated a policy on found raising for it's implementation.
SYO officers have implemented several activities on judiciary related data collection, there are ongoing IDMA (investigation, Ducmentation, monitoring and Advocacy) activities that are being performed by SYO the IDMA pending cases with in SOYODER office include the following.
1. Arbitrary detention
2. Torture and other cruel, inhuman or degradingtreatment or punishment
3. Bad condition of prisoners
4. Violations to the principles of the juvenile justice
5. Violations to the independence of judges.
SYO uathorities participated many conferences , meetings ,workshopes about haw to promote and protect HR and youth leadership encouraging also their development and other signeficant issues about civil society which happened in different counteries in the world such us Lebnon,Bahrain ,Egypt and Others. we submited to the regional and international organizations and Agences the genaral situation in somalia specialy youth situation and their strick circumstance after when They listened our demination same of them decided to help somali youth.
SYO conducted social participatory discussions about peace education especially Somali peace building process and restore of central institution for Somalia ,good govenance,democracy, life together, understanding, solidarity, tolerance, equality of women disarmament and integrattion.and useful ideological outcomes had been gained.
The Above-mentioned activities are being voluntarily by SYO trough its officers and volunteers as SOY seeks funds from local and international donors for the successful completion of these activities.
